WILLIAM MASSEY NEW ORLEANS BEER CROCK BOTTLE 1830-1849

William Massey came to New Orleans from Philadelphia in 1830 until 1854 when he moved back to Philadelphis. He was selling beer from 20 Beienville Street in New Orleans. In 1846 it was noted that he imported his stone bottles from England with his name incised on them.In 1849 he became a member of the firm of Poultney, Collins & Massey.
This beer bottle has W. MASSEY./ NEW ORLEANS. incised on the body near the base. It is about 6 1/2" tall and has no chips or cracks, but has a spot on the base where the glaze stuck to the kiln and the glaze was removed.
