CIVIL WAR PERIOD UMBRELLA INKS
The first is probably a little older than 1861 . It is the square shoulder variant, open pontil, aqua, with an inward folded lip. The height is 2 1/4”. The condition is near mint except for a very light interior haze with no chips. On the base there exists a pontil crack probably caused at the glass works when the bottle was snapped from the pontil rod. Therefore I am offering this one for only $30.00. An unusual shape for this 1850-1860’s ink.
The second example is larger measuring 2 ½ inches, greenish aqua, with an inward rolled lip and smooth base. It is mint with no damage. A sparkling whittled beauty for only $35.00
The buyer pays postage and optional insurance.
