We often see jugs of the same type as the jug on the right being mistakenly used in Civil War movies, but they date from the 1890's and 
obviously not Civil War period.  The jug on the left is from the Civil War period. It is approximately 8" tall and 6" diameter. There is a chip on 
the side of the lip and some chipping on the base edge.  It has a brown shiny glaze. <p>
